ABOUT TROUT LINES

Our Story & Golden Rules

At Trout Lines Travel Company, we believe the best fly-fishing journeys go far beyond the river. Our team brings together decades of global travel experience, deep roots in both the United States and Argentina, and a lifelong passion for exploration, culture, and wild places.

John Boehme — Founder & Managing Director

Traveler, storyteller, and lifelong adventurer, John has explored more than 72 countries across six continents. His love for fly fishing began during his years living and working in hospitality throughout the national parks of Montana, Idaho,  and Wyoming.

After graduating from the University of Montana, John began designing once-in-a-lifetime journeys for a world-renowned destination management company. It was there that he learned how to craft travel experiences that go beyond logistics — experiences that inspire people to see the world differently.

Along the way, John met his wife, Macarena, while working at a lodge in Idaho. Through her, Argentina became a deeply personal part of his life. Over the years, he has spent significant time in Argentina, developing a lasting connection to its people, traditions, landscapes, food, and culture.

John holds an MBA from the University of Illinois and the Certified Hotel Administrator designation from the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the hospitality industry’s highest executive credential. His background blends travel design, hospitality leadership, storytelling, and a lifelong passion for the outdoors.

Trout Lines Travel Company was born from John’s desire to share the Argentina he knows intimately — not only its world-class fly fishing, but the warmth, creativity, flavor, rhythm, and soul of a place that has become a second home.

Peter Jungbacker — Partner & Senior Advisor

With more than 40 years in the travel industry, Peter brings unmatched expertise and credibility to Trout Lines Travel Company. He founded ExecuTravel of Wisconsin, one of the region’s most established travel agencies, and is also the founder of Alexander & Bishop Ltd., a premier real estate and capital markets firm in Wisconsin.

Peter holds both a JD and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin, but his truest education began much earlier—on a small river in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where his grandfather first taught him to fly fish. A lifelong angler with a global outlook, Peter’s passion and experience help guide Trout Lines Travel Company's mission and vision.

Landon Decker — Partner & Expedition Specialist

A trail boss for the U.S. Forest Service in Washington State, Landon oversees essential sections of the Pacific Crest Trail, bringing an unparalleled understanding of wilderness stewardship and backcountry travel.

A lifelong fly fisherman, Landon has chased trout across the U.S., Patagonia, and many corners of the world—packing a fly rod everywhere he travels. His instinct for exploration, combined with his background in outdoor leadership, influences Trout Lines Travel Company's approach to route planning, remote travel, and adventure design. When he’s not hiking trail or wading a river, he's often underwater—he’s also an avid scuba diver.

Macarena Nuñez-Rocha — Partner & Creative Director

Born in Monteros, Tucumán, Argentina, Macarena brings an essential cultural perspective and a thoughtful design sensibility to Trout Lines Travel Company. Trained in architecture and design, she leads the company’s creative direction and helps shape the look, feel, and character of our brand.

As someone who grew up in the landscapes, traditions, and everyday rhythms of Argentina, she ensures every itinerary reflects the authentic Argentina she knows intimately—from its rivers and mountains to its music, cuisine, and everyday life that make the country unforgettable. Her eye for detail and design helps translate Argentina’s character into experiences that feel genuine and thoughtfully crafted.

Macarena is also developing her interest in fly tying, approaching the craft with the same curiosity and precision she brings to her design work.
